Each year on 11 October, the international ‘coming out day’ takes place. Coming Out Day was founded to emphasize the moment in which gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transsexuals or queers (LGBTQ) come forward with their sexual preferences: the coming out. Coming Out Day is annually celebrated on 11 October. Goal of this day is to further the social acceptance of this group of people. Worldwide, activities are organised by all kinds of organisations throughout the day.

The TU Delft also joins, since the community of the university is diverse, and it is therefore important that everyone feels secure in being themselves, whatever their background. Coming Out Day helps build visibility, which leads to increased understanding and accelerates acceptance of LGBTQ people everywhere.

The parade
The parade is more than just a support to the LGBTQ community. We are surely all unique. The motto therefore is ‘united in diversity’ and participants will hold hands while walking to the Aula. The parade starts at three different locations at 17:00.

You can join the parade at the following locations:

  •       Aerospace Engineering
  •       Architecture (south entrance, Zuidplantsoen)
  •       Industrial Design Engineering (gather at the front of the building)

Concert by Mister and Mississippi
Main act this evening will be ‘Mister and Mississippi’, one of Holland’s newest and most successful young bands. The band just launched their third album: ‘Mirage’. This album employs a darker, heavier undercurrent of synths, bass and drums lurking beneath the groups well-established sonorous majesty and crisp vocals. Mirage marks a radical stylistic shift from indie folk prevalent on Mister and Mississippi’s previous two albums.

The band played at notable festivals at the likes of Lowlands, Paaspop, Eurosonic, SXSW and Rolling Stone Weekender.

Supporting act by: ‘Mooie Mannen combo’.

During the concert it is possible to order food at the three foodtrucks available.
